High-speed internet access will expand to all classrooms across the state
In a bid to boost classroom connectivity, the state of Texas has partnered with the nonprofit EducationSuperHighway to upgrade internet access in public school classrooms across the state.
EducationSuperHighway will work with state and school district leaders to ensure that all students have the internet speeds they need for a 21st century education.
“Learning is no longer limited by bricks and mortar – it is expanded exponentially by bytes and bandwidth,” said Gov. Greg Abbott. “Expanding technology in our classrooms will allow the State of Texas to meet future workforce needs, help teachers build a pipeline of qualified graduates, and support our students in their efforts to learn without limits. Every single child deserves access to quality education, and with the expanded use of technology in the classroom, that opportunity will be available to all Texas students.”

In the coming weeks, EducationSuperHighway, in partnership with the Governor’s Office, the Texas Education Agency, Education Service Centers, the service provider community, and schools across the state, will create an action plan that ensures scalable, robust, and affordable access to high-speed broadband for all Texas school districts.
At the same time, EducationSuperHighway network experts will begin working with the nearly 1,000 schools that currently lack access to high-speed fiber to help them attain fiber connections that are scalable and affordable.
