Casio’s ed-tech products help teachers boost engagement

Calculators, projectors were developed to alleviate teachers’ stress and help students learn

Every year, during the first week of May, people nationwide take a moment to show their appreciation for all that teachers and educators do on National Teacher Appreciation Day. As an ongoing show of its dedication and support for the work that these individuals do each and every day, Casio America, Inc., a manufacturer of education technology, works to develop educational products that will assist teachers in the classroom.

Casio’s latest calculators and projectors offer features that not only aim to alleviate stress for teachers, but will also help to enhance student engagement.

“Teachers are the backbone of schools and devote their lives to giving students the tools needed to succeed,” said Makoto Ori, Senior General Manager of Casio’s Consumer Products Division. “We want to make sure we are doing the same for them by offering a comprehensive portfolio of products, including calculators and projectors, which not only augments the overall learning process, but also complements a variety of different teaching styles.”

Graphing and Scientific Calculators

Casio’s ClassWiz fx-991EX is a scientific calculator with spreadsheet functionality, which enables students to create spreadsheets with up to five columns and 45 rows for a maximum of 170 data items. It also boasts a high-resolution screen and comes equipped with a natural textbook display, which means that mathematic equations and formulas are displayed just as they would appear in a student’s textbook. Additionally, the calculator can convert graphs into QR codes, which can be displayed on a projector screen, allowing teachers and students to work together seamlessly.

Casio’s PRIZM fx-CG10 is jam-packed with features that enable students to solve the most challenging equations and enhance their understanding of mathematics, including the world’s first Picture Plot function. The Picture Plot function enables users to plot graphs over pictures of real-life scenes and offers a color LCD with a full textbook-style display. Additionally, the PRIZM includes a multitude of functions that leverage the color LCD in graphing objects like dotted lines, circles and bars, and grid lines.

EcoLite™ Series of Projectors

Casio’s EcoLite series, including the XJ-V2, combines a laser, fluorescent element and LEDs to create intense brightness and a 20,000 hour projected lifespan, with an overall lower total cost of ownership, little brightness degradation and constant operation. This projector also provides a 30 percent increase in LED light output, thus offering a greater increase in color spectrum, perfect for projecting images and lessons to students. Casio’s EcoLite series produces up to 2,700 lumens of brightness, and boasts XGA (1024 x 768) resolution, suitable for displaying content from video and computer sources.
