Perris Union School District in Riverside, Calif., has partnered with Story2, a company that teaches students to tell their stories out loud and write authentic admission essays, to use the Story2 EssayBuilder Plus platform to improve college access and readiness among its high school students. This partnership arrives just in time for the 2016-2017 College Admissions cycle.
EssayBuilder Plus gives Perris Union administrators, teachers and counselors a data-rich dashboard to track and monitor student progress. This enables them to intervene where it will make the most difference for students. The partnership will expand students’ ability to plan and organize admission, scholarship and honors program essays through the College Essay Planner, for researching colleges’ admission requirements and deadlines. The adaptive platform teaches students how to complete eight specific types of essay questions, encouraging students to complete applications to more selective colleges and scholarships.
“We are delighted to be partnering with Story2 so that, through EssayBuilder Plus, we can help our students learn critical storytelling and writing skills and gain admission into more colleges, as well as to increase their chances to obtain scholarships,” said Julie Zierold, Director of Curriculum and Instruction at Perris Union. “This allows us to provide a consistent, scalable, outcomes-based solution for our schools and their students, helping to expand the capacity of our college counselors,” Julie added.

In 2015, 90 percent of Story2 students reported admission to one or more of their top three college choices.
