On the heels of Earth Day, WGBH Education launched a collection of digital resources featuring content from the new film H2O: The Molecule That Made Us, the landmark three-part series that tells the human story through our relationship to water.
With kids now learning from home, these resources are aimed at providing both parents and teachers alike with the resources they need to continue schooling remotely. The resources are available on PBS LearningMedia and include educational materials for middle and high school teachers and students.
The first four video-based resources that launched today focus on the following water-related phenomena:
- The Amazon Rainforest’s “river in the sky”
- The dynamic and delicate feedbacks between Earth’s systems
- Disappearing groundwater
- The impacts of water management strategies
In addition to providing “Teaching Tips” and vocabulary support for each of the resources, the Education team has produced a background essay and student activity that relate to the “river in the sky” seen in Molecule. The engaging essay explains the process responsible for seeding the clouds that make up the atmospheric river and the human activities that threaten it.
More resources that align with Molecule will be available in the coming weeks. Molecule premiered last night on PBS and the next two episodes will air the next two Wednesdays (check local listings). After May 6, the entire documentary will be available to stream online at pbs.org/molecule.
