Activities to keep kids engaged and learning during the summer

BrainPOP Family™ provides families with fun, self-guided educational activities to keep kids engaged and learning during the summer and beyond

BrainPOP, the online educational solution that makes rigorous learning experiences accessible and engaging for all students, today announced a new product offering designed specifically with the needs of families in mind. The new BrainPOP Family allows kids to learn independently across multiple subject areas with a fun, personalized experience that is tailored to their interests and grade level from K-8.

“With the shift to remote learning, BrainPOP has been an invaluable resource for our family. My six-year-old son is really interested in biographies and, with BrainPOP, he is able to safely and independently explore different topics that are of interest to him,” said Lori Noto, a parent of two in Seattle. “The new BrainPOP Family features that allow parents to have insight into what content kids are accessing and how they are working toward goals is a game-changer for summer learning.”

BrainPOP Family was developed in response to feedback from hundreds of parents as they recently made a dramatic transition to remote learning. During the COVID-19 pandemic, more than one million families and teachers turned to BrainPOP content to support continuous learning. As families look to a summer without traditional camps and other enriching opportunities, parents overwhelmingly asked for a self-directed product that allows kids to safely explore their interests.

With more than 1,100 topics spanning academic subjects and social-emotional skills, BrainPOP Family invites kids to dive deep into existing interests and uncover new ones. For the first time on BrainPOP, they will also have the opportunity to collect themed mastery badges by completing topics of their choosing, including “Stop the Spread,” “Change Makers,” “Taking Care of Yourself,” “Rights and Responsibilities,” “Eco-Defender,” and more.

“Parents, caregivers, and educators are partners in empowering kids to shape the world around them and within them,” said Scott Kirkpatrick, CEO of BrainPOP. “We saw this partnership deepen over the last few months, as the barriers between school and home disappeared. Now, more than ever before, parents are looking for reliable solutions that allow kids to continue learning at their own pace and on their own terms.”

BrainPOP family plans are available in three tiers to meet the individual needs of families:

  • BrainPOP GO provides access to all BrainPOP movies and quizzes via the app, available in the Apple App Store and on Google Play.
  • BrainPOP Family includes two child profiles per account and offers access to all BrainPOP movies and quizzes, learning games, and a personalized goal tracking system.
  • BrainPOP Homeschool includes four student profiles per account and offers access to all BrainPOP movies and quizzes, learning, and creativity tools (Creative Coding, Make-a-Movie, Make-a-Map, Worksheet, Vocabulary, and more), learning games, professional development resources, and a teacher dashboard with assignment tools.

Plans can be purchased individually, or as a combo with BrainPOP or BrainPOP Jr.

“From the early days of BrainPOP, I envisioned families engaging in high-quality educational experiences at home,” said Avraham Kadar, M.D., founder and executive chairman of BrainPOP. “Between these three offerings, kids have the freedom and the flexibility to indulge their curiosity while closing knowledge gaps. In turn, we hope to give parents peace of mind that they are making digital learning more meaningful and more impactful.”

Since its founding in 1999 by Dr. Kadar, BrainPOP has been continuously innovating to prepare students to become the leaders of tomorrow. Over the last 20 years, BrainPOP has reached more than 300 million learners worldwide. From the beginning, the BrainPOP approach engaged kids’ curiosity through short animated movies that make complicated ideas simple and clear, helping them experience the sudden burst of understanding that Dr. Kadar called a “brain pop.” Today, schools and districts nationwide utilize BrainPOP to raise academic achievement and strengthen students’ critical, computational, and creative thinking skills.
