Meteor Education Offers Medical-Grade Pathogen Reduction Technology for Schools

Continuous Air & Surface Pathogen Reduction disinfectant technology automatically and continuously reduces pathogens

With school disinfection and pathogen reduction rising to the top of district priorities nationwide, MeTEOR Education announced today that it is making medical and industrial-grade Continuous Air & Surface Pathogen Reduction (CASPR) technology available for schools.

CASPR utilizes Natural Catalytic Converter (NCC) technology which consists of a special UV light and photocatalyst. The technology utilizes the humidity found naturally in the air to create an advance oxidation process. The output is several friendly oxidants that protect your air and surfaces, with no ozone produced. CASPR has a kill rate of up to 99.96% and is effective against mold, bacteria, virus, odors, and VOCs.

Hospitals and medical centers have used NCC technology for some time, ensuring that the entire environment is continuously protected as compared to periodic air filtration. Standard commercial approaches to air handling provide periodic protection at best. Air filters clean the room atmosphere at one single point of contact (a physical filter, perhaps with UV light), and then move air throughout the environment, potentially lifting up and carrying pathogens across occupants, long before again reaching the filtering point. CASPR is a disinfectant technology which reduces pathogens automatically and continuously, facility-wide.

“While the current COVID-19 crisis has elevated concerns about school disinfection, asthma, flu, and other respiratory illnesses are the single leading cause of student and teacher absence—a trend that began long before COVID-19 and which continues to increase,” said Bill Latham, chief executive officer of Meteor Education. “CASPR provides schools and districts a powerful and proven way to improve air quality in the classroom.”

Meteor Education, creator of the High Impact Learning Environment framework, provides end-to-end support for school environments including health, safety and sanitation offerings.  Searching for solutions to ease school districts’ burdens in the COVID-19 era, Meteor Education sought out hospital technology that could meet school budgets, work in both modern and aging buildings, and meet school requirements for ease of installation and use.

Meteor Education’s CASPR solution has a long track record of safety and effectiveness in health settings and is widely implemented in environments where continuous disinfection is required, most notably in hospital ICUs and NICUs. Proven safe to use in occupied spaces well within all regulatory approved levels, CASPR’s oxidizing molecules are produced at consistently safe levels like normal atmospheric levels. Most importantly, it provides an immediate benefit by reducing the opportunity for virus and bacterial transmission, including SARS – CoV2 (the virus which causes COVID-19).

As part of Meteor Education’s introduction of the CASPR solution to schools, the company is providing a free in-district trial program along with independent, third-party environmental laboratory testing for confirmation of continuous pathogen reduction. For more information, to schedule a demonstration, or to arrange for a free in-district trial and third-party independent lab evaluation, contact Sebastian Sanchez at SSanchez@MeteorEducation.com.
