Wireless screen sharing meets the need for easy classroom collaboration and simple technology solutions

How wireless screen sharing helps schools cut cords

Wireless screen sharing meets the need for easy classroom collaboration and simple technology solutions

Technology has become central to day-to-day processes inside schools, whether it’s the classroom, common areas, staff rooms or lunch areas. In fact, 95 percent of teachers report that they use technology regularly, highlighting just how prevalent and inseparable it is from modern methods and styles of educating.

However, in this post-pandemic and technology-abundant era, teachers are faced with the challenge of facilitating collaboration amongst students–something that was lacking from the remote scene–while still being mindful of health concerns and guidelines. One potential solution that satisfies the need for collaboration while simplifying complex technology is wireless screen sharing.

Wireless screen sharing: The convenient, touchless solution

Traditionally, whenever the teacher or students needed to present something to the class, they would have to plug an HDMI cord into their device. Yet as mentioned previously, people would like to avoid touching and passing around a cable – especially on days where most of the class is presenting. Plus, who knows which adapters you might need, or if the HDMI cable is even still in the room. What if the cable gets plugged in, but nothing turns on? No teacher wants to spend their entire class time fiddling with cords instead of actually teaching.

Wireless screen sharing is a touchless alternative to HDMI cords, and it also offers a convenient way for people to share their screens. With screen mirroring solutions, anyone throughout the classroom can present securely from any screen on any device (with permission, of course). This technology improves teamwork and saves time between presenters. Plus, it takes the pressure off the student as wireless presentation systems are easy to use for every age group.

Additionally, teachers, today are much more mobile in the classroom, preferring to be untethered and free to roam about with a tablet in hand and a main presentation at the front. When equipped with wireless screen sharing, the teacher, and any student they call on, can share their device seamlessly.

What makes a screen mirroring solution better than other technologies?

Some solutions work within a single ecosystem and can only pair with the same brand devices or hardware. However, optimal wireless screen sharing solutions can connect and support mismatched products, such as AirPlay, Google Cast or Miracast. These ideal systems are also BYOD friendly, meaning that their respective app is available for macOS, Windows, Chromebook and Linux and completely free to download. Although many enterprises require a dongle (easily lost and expensive to replace) to enable connections, it bears repeating that a wireless screen sharing solution is wireless.

Moreover, the best-in-class wireless presentation systems also provide digital signage capabilities. Instead of physically updating and managing the information displayed on every single screen throughout a school or entire district, digital signage allows staff to connect to all screens from one central, even remote, location. Schools can also create tailored content to display images, websites, schedules, room agendas, digital menu boards, project progress and more.

Benefits for IT

Not only will students and teachers find value in wireless presentation systems, but so too will IT personnel. For many school districts, there isn’t always an available IT person at every single school. Likewise, IT staff would prefer to push an update from one central location rather than visiting each school and class to upgrade the firmware (a requirement of some consumer/living room devices typically found in EDU environments). With wireless screen sharing solutions powered by centralized all-in-one cloud management, IT administrators can remotely access and control device performance and settings from anywhere.

Using central cloud management, IT staff can update settings and digital signage content for one or many screens simultaneously from anywhere. With schools’ most technical employees at the helm, they can invite colleagues to collaborate and assign different access levels depending on user roles, location, and use case. Similarly, the best wireless screen sharing systems can scale, whether a school needs screen mirroring and signage for three or three thousand displays.

Already, school districts that have used wireless presentation systems have seen their tickets go down significantly. Before deploying, “I can’t connect to my screen” was the chief submitted ticket. Additionally, the simplicity and ease-of-use of screen mirroring help IT staff worry less about addressing repetitive tickets and work more on larger and more pressing issues and projects.

Takeaways

As various technologies become mainstays inside the classroom, it’s time a convenient solution that unifies screens, inspires students, and empowers teachers receives recognition. Wireless screen sharing, paired with digital signage and centralized cloud management, arrived perfectly at this juncture of students returning to school and districts emphasizing health-conscious collaboration.
