Taking place February 20-26 with theme “Reimagining the Possible” will help show students that innovative technologies and diverse leaders can create brighter futures for all through the power of engineering. To support this theme, Discovery Education is providing educators, students, and families with hundreds of no-cost resources tailored for any learning environment. Among the resources created in collaboration with leading social impact partners are:

Virtual Field Trips
The Future is Now Virtual Field Trip from Reach for the Sky – designed with Edge at Hudson Yards – takes students on a virtual adventure into NYC’s newest and most forward-thinking neighborhood and the incredible observation deck where marvels of modern engineering elevate the possibilities of everyday life to meet with various leaders about the STEM, history, and social impact of the new gravity-defying structure.

The Tech for Global Good Virtual Field Trip from Tech for Tomorrow – created with Tech Interactive – students meet with groundbreaking STEM leaders rethinking data technology to transform our world for the better.

Career Profiles
Learn from the innovators making the world a better place through engineering with the video series, as well as the accompanying standards-aligned educator guides and student activities from Engineering Dreams. Student Challenges
Give students the chance to become a world-class scientist through the 3M Young Scientist Challenge, the nation’s premier middle school science competition. The annual challenge – created in partnership with 3M as part of the Young Scientist Lab program –invites students in grades 5-8 to compete for an exclusive mentorship with a 3M scientist, a $25,000 grand prize, and the title of “America’s Top Young Scientist.” Competition entries are accepted until April 26, 2022.

Support students on their pathway to STEM success with the new Trade Champions Challenge, presented in partnership Stanley Black & Decker as part of Innovation Generation. The Challenge introduces students to the unique opportunities offered through trade careers, encouraging them to consider a new career or education path and is accepting submissions through April 15, 2022.

Put mobility at the heart of engineering with the Innovation Ignition Challenge from Keys to Connect, a program created with Toyota. The Challenge encourages students to discover ways to improve and invest in their communities, investigate real-world challenges, and develop practical problem-solving skills along the way.

“I include engineering into lessons whenever I can and with resources from Discovery Education and their partners, I know that the content is just what I need to be lesson-ready” said Kay Bolerjack, a STEAM teacher at Charles Hay World School of Englewood Schools District.

Educators and students can find even more engineering resources and meet more STEM leaders in the Discovery Education K-12 learning platform’s STEM Careers channel.
