Gregg W. Downey

Winner of more than 30 national awards in education journalism, Gregg is a reporter, writer, and editor who has spent much of his professional life in the service of education. Beginning his career as a Navy journalist during the Vietnam War, he is an alumnus of the University of Illinois, Chicago. After college, he worked for McGraw-Hill’s Nation’s Schools and College and University Business magazines. He was editor-in-chief of The American School Board Journal, founding editor of The Executive Educator magazine, and developed the quarterly technology publication The Electronic School. Immediately before launching eSchool News in 1998, Gregg served as an editor and reporter for Maryland’s Ocean City Today newspaper. In his current capacity as president, publisher, and editorial director for eSchool Media, Gregg has overseen the debut of eCampus News, eClassroom News, and eSchoolNews-TV.

Gregg is a theater buff and Shakespeare aficionado, and he and his wife divide their time between their residence in metropolitan Washington, D.C., and their hobby ranch in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains.
