Hundreds of middle school students from around the state crowded Central Connecticut State University’s Kaiser Hall gymnasium Sunday for the 12th annual Connecticut FIRST Lego League state championship, reports New Britain Herald. Of the 125 middle school robotics teams across the state, 52 qualified in regional contests for the championship, and51 were in attendance Sunday, each with a team of eight to 10. Middle school teams from Bristol, Southington and Plainville were among those competing. Hosted by CCSU’s School of Engineering and Technology and the Connecticut Department of Education’s Technology Education Office, the League Championship is a partnership between Lego and FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology).
