Tegrity and the Flipped Classroom: Smarter Use of Technology for Improved Learning
Moderated by Kevin Hogan, eSchool News, Content Director
Date: Tuesday, March 20, 2012
Time: 2:00pm ET / 11:00am PT
Duration: One hour
To address the evolving needs of both students and instructors, Calhoun Community College began experimenting with a “flipped” classroom model in which lectures that were once presented in the classroom are instead delivered online through Tegrity for students to view on their own time. This provides instructors with the flexibility to introduce more interactive and engaging activities in class, while students can watch lectures at their own leisure– wherever and whenever they want.
The results are showing a higher level of student satisfaction with classes and overall learning experiences. Thanks to the flipped classroom enabled by Tegrity, students report that they are more successful in their courses than they would have been in a traditional classroom setting.
Attendees will learn:
- What a “flipped classroom” should look like (and what it shouldn’t look like)
- How to develop implementation strategies for a flipped classroom model (needs assessment; selecting resources, such as Tegrity; and measuring success)
- Best practices for using Tegrity to create content for the flipped classroom
- Tips for most efficient use of class time in a flipped classroom model
