Research suggests that teachers should systematically and explicitly teach students to craft essays, yet I struggled with finding the time to do it all: teach my students the skills necessary to write the essay, provide proper written models of the various elements, support them in fully digesting and using the writing process, and provide them opportunities to ask questions.
