Equity was a priority for school systems prior to 2020; however, the pandemic has focused attention on the continuing need to create more equitable education environments. The interruption of in-person learning environments has impacted everyone, but has particularly challenged those with specific learning needs. Students deserve the resources and support they need to fully engage in learning, and when you design for inclusion, everyone benefits.
In part one of this webinar series, attendees will learn how to develop and enable a more inclusively and accessibly designed classroom that provides each student the tools and supports they need – from built-in technology tools to making open education resources more accessible.

Marie Martin CEO Alexandria's World - Education Strategist
For over 15 years, Marie Martin has been a global educator, trainer, facilitator, and instructional designer – working with educators, leaders, and highly diverse students. She is a three-time “Teacher of the Year” recipient for her work and classroom outcomes. Marie has trained, coached, and mentored teachers on second language acquisition best practices, and has continually created inclusive classroom environments rooted in social and emotional learning. Within her last school district, Marie led school-wide social and emotional learning and project-based learning implementations. Marie is currently CEO of Alexandria’s World, an education media company that provides culturally responsive curriculum and services.
Marie is also a doctoral candidate studying education leadership at the University of Southern California (2022) where she is editor and chief of the Follow the Leaders Journal on Equity Leadership. Her research focuses on Superintendent leadership within the fourth industrial revolution era. Her specialty in leadership and curriculum is the development of best practices rooted in equity within technology, project-based learning, social-emotional learning, and second language acquisition. Most recently, Marie conducted research on the inclusive classroom for Microsoft Education in collaboration with Program 11.
After more than 10 years as a filmmaker, storyteller and Walt Disney Imagineer, Sam moved north and spent the next 15 years bringing her passion for education and learning to Microsoft.
As a director of marketing, she and her team support the mission of every student around the world having what they need to succeed and achieve in school and in life. Inspired by her young twins born small and premature, the mother and scientist was curious to understand every part of the way they learned. Especially how they learned differently. Now, 21 years later, as more tools and technologies emerge to support diverse learners, her twins are thriving and so are so many others.
Recognized as one of the ‘Top 10 Most Influential Women in Technology’ by Fast Company and as one of the ‘Top 100 Women in Technology’ by TechFlash, she believe the intersection of technology and learning accelerated by the pandemic, will help bring more equity to education and help all students achieve more.
