Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – October 7, 2009, Quantum Simulations, Inc., a developer of artificial intelligence (AI) tutoring, assessment and professional development software was recognized by ComputED Gazette’s 14th Annual Education Software Review Awards for the research and development of the Quantum Tutors for the Accounting Cycle, online tutoring software that provides individualized tutoring and homework help for college students taking introductory accounting.
The EDDIE Awards recognize innovative, content-rich programs and websites that can be used by educators to augment classroom curriculum, foster educational excellence and improve instructor productivity. As an award recipient, Quantum’s tutoring software for accounting is scientifically proven to increase student test scores by at least a full letter grade. The software was introduced in January 2008 and is already being used at hundreds of colleges and universities across the country.
When surveyed, 99 percent of students said the Quantum Tutors were "very helpful" or "helpful" and nearly all said they would recommend it to their friends.
"We’re very pleased to receive this recognition from ComputED and congratulate all of the outstanding award winners," commented Dr. Benny Johnson, Quantum’s President and CEO. "This is the first time that a breakthrough learning technology that was originally developed for science and mathematics has been translated to a business subject like accounting."
The Quantum Tutors are like having a personal tutor ready to help day or night, whether students need to work on an assignment and the instructor isn’t available to answer questions, or are preparing for a test and need more practice. Unlike homework systems that only tells students, "Wrong, try again," or provide the same generic feedback every time, Quantum explains "why" individual student answers are right or wrong with detailed, step-by-step feedback specific to their own work. Whether it’s a simple math error, confusion about a formula or misunderstanding an accounting concept, Quantum analyzes student work and knows what specific errors students are making and guides them back to the correct solution path, allowing students to learn from their mistakes and not repeat them at test time.
With the ever-increasing costs of tuition and course materials, college students are making tough decisions about what learning tools to purchase and are turning to the Quantum Tutors which are proven to work, save time and are convenient. Similarly, enrollments are growing rapidly without increasing staff or budget, particularly at community colleges.
As a result, instructors must find ways to support larger class sizes and are using the Quantum Tutors to give students the individualized attention needed to be successful.
