Winter 2012 Classroom Improvement Grants engage students in learning

The Turning Foundation, in partnership with SamsungT-Mobile, BrainPop and Turning Technologies announced the grant recipients of the Winter 2012 Classroom Improvement Grants. The 10 grant awards will directly impact 1,040 students using classroom TurningPoint response systems. The goal of this joint grant effort was to help educators develop 21st century classrooms and improve achievement by providing effective and engaging technology from multiple industry-leading companies.

Innovative applications that received awards include those submitted by the following teachers:
.       Rebecca Clinch, Arcade Elementary at Pioneer Central School District – Arcade, N.Y.
.       Laurence Tan, 122nd Street School – Los Angeles, Calif.
.       Bethany Sharp, Morris Jeff Community School – New Orleans, La.
.       Chantal Schiller, Holy Family School – Flushing, NY..
.       Lisa Lanza, Glide Middle School – Glide, Ore.
.       Kathryn Thomas, Windber Area Middle School – Windber, Pa.
.       Tara Supers, Newcomerstown Middle School – Newcomerstown, Ohio
.       Travis Risher, Newport Middle School – Newport, Ky.
.       Samantha Stanley, Long County High School – Ludowici, Ga.
.       Teresa Adams, Rancho Verde High School – Moreno Valley, Calif.
