The Florida Department of Education on April 27 unveiled a new reading assessment program intended to use web-based technology to quickly identify a student’s strengths and weaknesses in reading, reports the Miami Herald. The program will be funded in part by a $525,000 grant from the AT&T Foundation. Laptop computers with special software will track the progress of students in kindergarten through second grade in a series of reading exercises.
