Rick Perkins VP, Innovative Instructional Models @Stride Learning Solutions
Rick Perkins joined the Stride team in early 2022 with a wealth of knowledge from his career as a school leader. He started as a classroom teacher, moved to the role of Dean of Students, and ultimately became a principal. He then transitioned to being the Director of Instructional Operations at Florida Virtual School. Under his leadership, the school doubled in size while producing increased academic performance in all measurables, including AP scores, FCAT scores, completion percentage, and passing rates. In addition, the teaching staff, which grew to over 1,000 full-time teachers (a 300% increase), reported the highest morale in school history. Rick spent the next nine years as VP of Instructional Services at Edmentum, Inc. He created and implemented Success Coaching, Tutoring, Career Academy, and School Mentoring – all for virtual school settings. Since joining Stride, Rick has used his experience to focus on restructuring the organization.

Laura Spezio joined the Stride team in 2021. She started her career as a classroom teacher outside of Rochester, NY. She transitioned to the education technology sector, where she has focused on building relationships with school administrators, understanding their complex needs, consulting on viable solutions, and partnering where it’s meaningful. In her role at Stride, she manages the Midwest states. Outside of work, she is actively involved in Girls on the Run of Greater Rochester. She has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Elementary Education. She is certified in Elementary Education, 1-6 and Special Education, 1-6.
