Avenda Systems to Showcase Identity-Aware Network Security Solution at EDUCAUSE 2009; Enjoying Strong Traction in Higher Ed by Securing Campus and Residential Hall Networks

Santa Clara, Calif. – Oct. 27, 2009 – Avenda Systems, the innovator in identity-aware network access security, announced that it is experiencing strong traction in the higher education market with its eTIPS secure access control platform, which uniquely secures wireless and wireline access for universities across the nation. Increasing demand to secure campus network access is a growing requirement for universities’ security and compliance needs.

The constant churn in the student body, many types of devices brought on campus, and a network that normally contains equipment from a variety of vendors all present a challenge for easily controlling who and what devices can access the campus and residential hall networks. Most IT teams are starting by securing their wireless networks or securing guest access.

“Securing our wireless network, as well as providing differentiated access for faculty, staff, students  and guests, was a major requirement for the year,” commented Fred Archibald, Network Manager of the EECS Department, at the University of California, Berkeley. “We needed a solution that would fit into our overall network, allow us to easily tackle our immediate need, and was also easy for our small team to manage. Avenda meets these requirements.”

Avenda will demonstrate its eTIPS secure access control platform at the EDUCAUSE 2009 Annual Conference in Denver next week, in Booth #878.

Avenda’s eTIPS identity-aware policy platform offers the only access control solution for universities that centrally manages policies across access methods, operating systems, computers, iPhones, gaming consoles, and existing campus identity stores. Built-in guest access, AAA-RADIUS, and endpoint health verification tools ensure users gaining access to campus networks are checked for identity and multiple vulnerabilities.

“The Higher Education market continues to be very fruitful for us,” said Krishna Prabhakar, CEO at Avenda Systems. “EDUCAUSE is an excellent opportunity for us to collaborate with university decision makers and IT teams, and to demonstrate our solution.”
