Wren, a provider of enterprise video management solutions since 1983, today announced that it will offer IP access control solutions alongside its already extensive offering of network video and security software offerings. The capstone of the access control solution, Wren Access Control Software, is an intuitive, web-based application that integrates seamlessly on the IT network and enables easy access and control of the entire system. This software is coupled with top-of-the-line hardware from leading manufacturers including HID® and Assa Abloy.
New Solution Provides Enterprise Security Management Capabilities
Wren access control solutions provide enterprise security management capabilities, enabling remote management of entrances and exits with the click of a mouse. Because all IP solutions share key fundamentals and IT professionals are accustomed to running equipment on the network, Wren’s IP solutions enable in-house troubleshooting and maintenance. This results in a great cost savings over the life of the equipment. IP solutions also accommodate existing infrastructure, allowing organizations to take full advantage of previous investments in older equipment.
Already entrenched in markets such as education and retail with a wide range of network video solutions, Wren now brings turnkey IP access control solutions to these markets. "Our customers were clamoring for a single-source provider of video and access control solutions," said Andrew Wren, president of Wren. "They can now access turnkey solutions including software, hardware, installation, support and training."
Wren is quickly expanding its line of software products to provide enterprise-level security management. The launch of Wren’s Access Control Software comes only a month after the launch of Encapsulon Assessment for Schools, a tool that helps schools comprehensively assess security and safety risks.
Wren’s Research Finds Education Market Needs Better Electronic Access Control Systems
A survey conducted by Wren in August 2008 indicated that schools have key security gaps involving access control. Electronic access control systems are not being used in the majority of schools that participated in the survey and only 28 percent of responding schools felt “extremely confident” in their ability to ensure perimeter doors would securely lock in case of an emergency lock down. The complete report on Wren School Security Survey: Access Control is available on the Wren website.
