9 essential social media tips for educators

Hints and strategy can help frame your school’s social media policy

social-mediaSocial media has had a major impact on education in recent years–perhaps a bigger impact than many realize.

During a McGraw-Hill Education webinar, #EdChat founders Steven Anderson and Tom Whitby offered tips and best practices focused on how to use social media in education and how to craft an impactful social media strategy.

Afuape isn’t a big fan of Facebook, and says he doesn’t expect to be challenged by the blackout. But Harris is going to have a hard time not posting her whereabouts to friends…

TCEA uses social media to share resources

Educators left TCEA with many free resources for students.
Educators left TCEA with many free resources for students.

Educators who couldn’t make it to every session during the Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) annual conference in Austin this month turned to the TCEA Twitter page and the TCEA Ning for summaries of resources that were discussed during sessions and workshops.

Despite the slumping economy, the conference had its largest attendance ever, organizers say—with more than 12,000 attendees.

Ning is an online platform for users to create their own social networks. TCEA set up a Ning for conference attendees to post information they learned in sessions for their colleagues who couldn’t attend.…Read More
