The Library of Congress (LOC) is offering free professional development for teachers. The LOC’s Teaching with Primary Sources program provides primary source-based staff development to teachers across the country. Educators can enroll in hands-on workshops at the LOC location Washington, D.C., receive online and interactive training, or can apply to enroll in longer in-depth professional development institutes. Using the LOC’s “Build and Deliver” format, educators are able to download and facilitate ready-to-present professional development modules. All content is aligned to national standards and is ideal for staff developers, content chairs, school library media specialists, and facilitators. Or, educators may choose to complete any number of hour-long professional development modeules offering rich multimedia and a certificate of completion. Approximately 19 million primary resources have been digitized, and resources are a mix of photos, maps, posters, and other exciting materials.
