Sensor-based lab investigations provide rich opportunities for students to develop hands-on STEM experience using tools like those used by scientists and engineers
Earlier this year, PASCO® Scientific, a provider of 21st century science education, unveiled a line of wireless sensors that are compatible with multiple technology platforms, including Windows®, Mac®, iPad® and iPhone®, Android™ tablets and phones, and Chromebooks™. At ISTE 2016 this week in Denver, PASCO will give educators a sneak peek of the latest additions to the line: wireless conductivity, light, voltage, and current sensors.
The new wireless solutions will be demonstrated at booth 2131 at ISTE and released this July in time for back to school. By simplifying lab setup and removing the clutter of cables, the wireless sensors allow students to perform experiments that were difficult or impossible before, and spend more time exploring. Using the sensors’ onboard memory, students can stream live data or collect and store data on the sensors.

PASCO’s wireless sensors help schools save money by eliminating the need for a separate interface to connect sensors to a personal computing device. Students can simply transmit the data directly from the wireless sensor to their computer, tablet or smartphone. Further, with battery lives of up to a year or longer, the sensors are always ready to use.
The new sensors will join PASCO’s current line of wireless pH, temperature, pressure, and force/acceleration sensors, as well as the new PASCO Smart Cart which wirelessly transmits position, velocity, acceleration, and force data to a computer or mobile device via Bluetooth® Smart.
