Lightspeed Technologies, the trusted provider of classroom audio, congratulates Ashleigh Schulz, a fourth grade teacher at Moss Bluff Elementary, on being named LACUE State Elementary Teacher of the Year.

The LACUE Awards honor Louisiana teachers using the power of technology to achieve significant improvement in the education of their students. Winners were chosen by the Louisiana Association of Computer Using Educators.

Schulz has been a teacher for 11 years in Calcasieu Parish. She is an ELA teacher in grade 4 and has a huge passion for technology. Schulz has written numerous grants to secure cutting edge technology and is a feature presenter at local, state, and national conferences. She currently serves as a mentor to other teachers and has an open door policy in her classroom, welcoming anyone to observe the creative lessons her students create.

“Being recognized as LACUE State Elementary Teacher of the Year is an achievement that I am honored to receive,” Schulz said. “Such a recognition is a reflection of my amazing students and colleagues who make each day an extraordinary experience.”

Schulz said she believes in the power of technology, and the FLEXCAT system from Lightspeed Technologies has helped her become the teacher she has always wanted to be. She feels that she is now a more effective teacher as the system allows her to identify precious learning moments as she differentiates instruction for all students.

“Ashleigh is an inspiration to her students, to me, and to every teacher in the state of Louisiana. She brings enormous energy, enthusiasm and optimism to teaching — a career that has never been more vital to our future,” said Dr. Sheryl Abshire, CPSB’s Chief Technology Officer. “She’s the perfect choice for this tremendous honor as she continues to inspire and guide our students to greatness.”
