DreamBox Learning gives teachers free resources to boost math literacy

Educational software company DreamBox Learning is offering free digital math resources for kindergarten through second-grade teachers to use in their classrooms. These “DreamBox Teacher Tools” include a variety of lessons using virtual manipulatives, ideas for incorporating these lessons into the elementary curriculum, and resources to support teacher’s professional development as they use the online toolkit. The virtual manipulatives are web-based tools that help students more easily grasp math concepts in visual terms, and research shows they are effective, DreamBox says. The lessons are designed to be successful in a wide range of classroom environments. “Our national report card in math remains alarmingly low,” said Lou Gray, CEO of DreamBox Learning, “and it is critical that we continue to boost math literacy among all students. These are free, effective, and easy-to-use digital tools for teachers to use in full-class instruction, significantly extending the number of environments where DreamBox can be used.” The complimentary DreamBox Teacher Tools consist of four lesson groups taken directly from DreamBox Learning’s K-2 Math program. The first two lesson groups are available immediately, and the other two will be available later this fall. http://www.dreambox.com/teachertools
