SANTA BARBARA, CALIF. Aug. 10, 2022—In a 2022 national survey about the future of school-home communications, school and district leaders said they would like to add more videos to improve communication with families. To meet this need, ParentSquare has partnered with MyVRSpot, a video and digital media management service, to extend its video messaging capabilities to the ParentSquare school-home engagement platform for K-12.
With this new partnership, K-12 educators from the district office to the classroom teacher can seamlessly record and share video messages using ParentSquare and MyVRSpot to engage families with their communications. Teachers can also easily create and share lessons using the built-in recorder tools in MyVRSpot and then add the videos to the posts they create in ParentSquare – giving teachers and students the tools they need to teach and be future-ready citizens.
“Video provides a powerful tool to help districts and schools deepen their relationships with students’ families,” ParentSquare Chief Strategy Officer Dr. Chad A. Stevens said. “The partnership between ParentSquare and MyVRSpot is a direct response to feedback from our customers who expressed a desire to add video to their future communications plans. This new integration provides flexibility for schools to create and share video messages with families and shows ParentSquare’s ongoing commitment of creating the most robust parent relationship platform through customer-centric partnerships.”
Educators that participated in the initial pilot testing with ParentSquare and MyVRSpot are eager to begin implementing this new video capability school- and district-wide.
“Video is such a powerful communications tool, and we can leverage that power in education using quality resources and partnerships such as the ParentSquare and MyVRSpot collaboration,” said Paul Whitaker, Instructional Technology and PK-8 STEAM Coordinator for Englewood Schools in Colorado. “I have so many ideas on how we can use this enhanced resource to humanize our communications approach. With ParentSquare’s vast accessibility features already increasing engagement and equity, the partnership with MyVRSpot will ensure an additional medium for school-home communications is available for users.”
MyVRSpot supports The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance for videos by offering three types of captioning services to help with the creation of closed captioning files for videos. Live streaming is also available with MyVRSpot’s “Anytime, Anywhere, from Any Device” Live Broadcasting solution. Completely web-based, this feature requires no special hardware, and was designed specifically for education.
“This partnership allows ParentSquare to provide even greater parent engagement options by adding an expanded video offering to its already robust school-home communications platform,” MyVRSpot Founder and CEO Michael Kessler said. “The integration between the ParentSquare and MyVRSpot platforms makes it even easier for administrators and teachers to expand their parent communication toolbox to maximize their ongoing interactions with families. Plus, parents can view the videos on the spot, without having to download or install any other apps. It’s a win-win.”
Current ParentSquare customers can log in to the platform and learn more about using this enhancement here.
