Broward County child care program supports student learning through educational gaming
DimensionU’s educational gaming platform for math and literacy is expanding across 40 elementary and middle school after care sites in Florida’s Broward County.
The DimensionU expansion kicked off in October 2015 and came about after two years of pilot programs across 11 Before and After School Child Care Program (BASCC) and summer school sites.
Based on demonstrated high levels of student engagement, and extended focused-reinforcement on mathematics and literacy curriculum, administrative leadership at each location made the choice to participate in the expansion.
DimensionU’s educational gaming platform provides for differentiation of curriculum among users within a competitive and collaborative social environment that is compelling to students, because it looks and feels mainstream.
“Our company is honored to be an interactive, instructional support partner with BASCC and to have the opportunity to work with this and other district-sponsored after-school programs in Florida and around the country,” said DimensionU CEO, Steven Hoy. The academic impact and inspiration that these centers provide is significant for the students and the communities they serve,” added Hoy.
The BASCC department oversees 70 School Board Operated (SBO) programs providing before and after care services to Broward County Public Schools students.
“Our before and after care program supervisors and facilitators are excited to partner with DimensionU in providing this relevant, educational gaming product to students,” said BASCC Director, Dr. Deborah Gavilan.
