Ohio eyes school consolidation


Put a big question mark behind this number: 614. Ohio has 614 public school systems in its 88 counties, and for the first time in decades, those with the power to make changes intend to find out if reducing that number through consolidation could save money and improve academic performance, reports the MarionStar. Gov. John Kasich has called for aggressively studying the first sweeping consolidations of Ohio’s districts since the 1960s, and is about to do something about it.
