Free online writing and grammar resource

Free Quill Premium to all and has compiled remote learning resources for teachers and students

In the wake of this crisis, Quill.org is providing Free Quill Premium to all and has compiled remote learning resources for teachers and students.

What is Quill?

Quill.org is a non-profit that provides teachers and parents with a free, research-backed online learning platform that helps provide classical writing instruction.

Quill offers a set of diagnostic assessments and independent practice activities that focus on grammar and sentence construction. Most teachers start by assigning a diagnostic, a short assessment that analyzes students’ baseline writing skills. Then, Quill generates individualized learning plans for each student based on their performance. Teachers can also pick from over 600 activities and create customized activity packs to match their curriculums and units. Independent practice activities take 10-15 minutes to complete, and they provide students with instant feedback on their work, so they can continue refining their writing skills from their own homes. All the while, Quill provides teachers with free, in-depth data reports on student performance.

Our aim is not to replace teachers, but rather to provide them with the information and insight they need to stay on top of student performance and provide meaningful instructional intervention to students while they’re unable to work with them face-to-face.

Right now, we have 2 million users in nearly 17,000 schools across the nation, and we’d like to continue spreading the word and providing these free resources to teachers as they structure their remote lessons.

Getting Started

To get started, teachers just need to go to Quill.org and click sign up. It takes just 5 minutes to set up their classroom and assign activities to their students, and teachers can use Google Classroom or Clever to automatically import all of their students. The students can then sign in and access all of their activities at any time.
