District launches responsive website from Rediker Software

Waltham Public Schools chooses Rediker Software’s RediSite for their 10 schools and district office to meet the increasing mobile needs of parents, students and staff

Serving more than 5,500 students and 10 schools, Waltham Public Schools unveiled an improved approach to mobile communications recently by launching a district-wide responsive website from Rediker Software.

The service provides schools and districts with an attractive and affordable website that delivers an optimal viewing experience on any device. The site automatically adjusts to any size screen for easy reading and navigation on smartphones, tablets and computers without having to maintain a separate mobile site.

In keeping with Waltham Superintendent Drew Echelson’s strategic priorities for the district, RediSite will make it easy for all parents to access information about their students’ progress and about their schools.

The collaboration between Rediker Software and the Waltham School District has not only enhanced the district’s overall image, but has been a great cost saver for them as well. Liz Homan, Administrator of Technology and Education Integration for Waltham Public Schools noted, “We needed a professional looking design and features, but wanted to give schools control over the content on each of their sites but could not invest in a district webmaster. With Rediker, our school-based webmasters are able to directly sign on to our website, make changes, add content and pictures, and update a calendar of events instantly and easily.”

RediSite websites are built with the user-friendly content management system (CMS) concrete5. Rather than relying on a webmaster to make changes to a site, or navigate a cumbersome user interface, RediSite websites allow any user with permission to easily add, edit or reposition content. Users maintain a high level of control over any changes needed while still ensuring the site’s responsive integrity.

“We are able to make changes and publish information to the website quickly since webmasters at each school are able to update its content on their own,” said Homan. Also, if a situation occurs where the district office or schools need to post something to the web immediately, they can do so. “With RediSite, we are able to grant our users permissions to specific areas of the site so that they are able do this with ease,” she added.

The Waltham Public School District is also dedicated to providing information and forms in multiple languages for their diverse families. With Google Translate added to RediSite, they are able to translate any text, speech, images, or real-time video from one language into another.

New, easy-to-navigate school and district calendars, linked to Rediker’s PlusPortals, will also be available to the district community in Fall 2016.

“RediSite is a fantastic-looking and well-designed responsive district website solution for Waltham as it allows users to connect to their schools through integrated solutions with other Rediker products,” Rediker President Andrew Anderlonis explained. “The RediSite solution also now plays an integral role in promoting the Waltham Public Schools’ brand, enhancing communication and helping to maintain their great reputation in the community.”
