Even before COVID-19 forced the closure of schools around the world, the internet had become a virtual classroom with a growing number of engaging learning channels for students.

More than a year into the pandemic, parents are still turning to online resources to find activities for their children–but social media can be a challenging place when it comes to choosing content.

A new resource from Connections Academy features some of the most popular learning channels online, analyzing the number of subscribers they have and how many people have watched their videos to reveal the top 40 best educational influencers parents can trust.

Whether it’s discovering a new language, brushing up on those math skills, or getting creative with arts and crafts, there’s something for everyone. Here are the top 10 educational influencers to teach kids of all ages (find the full list of the 40 most popular learning channels here):

1. Brave Wilderness: If your student is interested in animals and wildlife, this is a fun and engaging channel to follow. Join hosts Coyote Peterson, Mark Vins, and Mario Aldecoa as they take you through lots of adventures. Every episode offers an opportunity to learn something new about the living world around us, from tiger sharks to bears and everything in between.

2. The Infographics Show: With videos uploaded daily, The Infographics Show uses motion-animation in videos to tell factual and interesting stories. Whether it’s answering common questions, debunking myths, or telling stories from history, the channel has over 9.44m subscribers.

3. Crash Course: Coming in 3rd place is Crash Course. A channel that states that they have “produced more than 32 courses on a wide variety of subjects, including organic chemistry, literature, world history, biology, philosophy, theater, ecology, and many more.”

4. Art Hub for Kids: Join Rob and his family as they take you through new art lessons every Monday – Friday. Learn how to draw everything from a bunny to the Titanic. You can even post your child’s artwork online to be part of their conversation.

5. Veritasium: With a focus on Science, Derek Muller takes his 8m+ audience through weekly videos where he investigates topics around science and the science community. Think physics, space, biology, chemistry and problem solving. He also has the largest Twitter following in the sites we reviewed.

6. Simple History: In 6th place, Simple History “visualizes the past, bringing history to life through animation.” The fun, easy-to-watch videos illustrate events in history that make learning both informative and entertaining.

7. Numberphile: Join Mathematicians from all over the world as Numberphile provides almost 600 videos explaining and solving numerous math problems and theories.

8. PatrickJMT: Whether you want to expand your math knowledge, discover more about limits, understand derivatives, or understand concepts in physics, Patrick’s channel is your one stop shop for helpful, walkthrough videos.

9. It’s Okay To Be Smart: With subjects including biology, physics, animals, Earth science, space, climate, and food science, Joe Hanson has helpful videos for all ages on his channel ‘It’s Okay To Be Smart.’

10. Mathantics: Rounding out the top 10 most popular online learning channels, Rob takes viewers through all topics in math on his Math Antic channel. His online content is broken down into Numeracy & Arithmetic, Fractions & Mixed Numbers, Percentages, Ratios & Proportions, Geometry, Statistics, and Algebra.
