Digital Curriculum and Assessment

Michigan’s Flint Community Schools (FCS) announced a new partnership with Discovery Education. Through this new collaboration, FCS educators teaching grades K-8 district-wide can now accelerate the creation of authentic digital classrooms by integrating Discovery Education’s Science Techbook, an innovative digital textbook, into classroom instruction. Turning Technologies announced the release of ExamView v11. The complete assessment solution now features a fresh new appearance, expanded learning management system integrations, synchronous and asynchronous assessment potential, comprehensive clicker support and, for the first time, the ability to upgrade to online testing capabilities that will change the way assessments are administered and taken in the ExamView classroom. The Center for Research and Reform in Education (CRRE) at Johns Hopkins University released its much anticipated website called Evidence for ESSA, a free web-based resource that provides easy access to information on programs that meet the evidence standards defined in the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Global learning company Houghton Mifflin Harcourt announced the release of HMH Kids Discover Social Studies ©2018, its social studies curricula for grades K – 6. Allovue, an education finance technology company, today launches a complimentary web portal to support K-12 school and district leaders prepare their budgets for compliance under the new regulations of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Kids Discover, a provider of science and social studies curriculum, announced the release of their Cross-Curricular Professional Learning Resources, including an infographic and two ebooks; “Improving Student Engagement and Outcomes with Cross-Curricular Application,” and “Creating a Cross-Curricular Learning Environment with Digital Curriculum.” Read more.

The digital multimedia platform will serve as an interactive and fun introduction to daily news and current events for kids. myON News will engage K–8 students to help them become informed global citizens and connected to digital fiction and nonfiction books—a first-of-its-kind feature for classrooms. Louisiana’s West Carroll Parish School District (WCPS) announced a new partnership with Discovery Education. Through this new collaboration, educators across the district will accelerate the district’s ongoing transition to digital teaching and learning by integrating Discovery Education’s suite of dynamic digital textbooks into classroom instruction. McGraw-Hill Education announced the launch of ELLevate English, an innovative new English Language Learning (ELL) course for secondary school students. Available outside the United States, ELLevate English offers pre-built, fully customizable course content that has been designed by curriculum experts and is aligned to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) for grades 7-12. hoopla digital announced a new licensing agreement with Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit organization behind Sesame Street, to bring a wealth of celebrated titles to participating public libraries across the U.S. and Canada. The deal adds Sesame Street eBooks, e-comic books and TV episodes to hoopla digital’s current offering of more than 600,000 eBooks, audiobooks, comics, movies, music, television shows and more. Achieve3000, a literacy platform in blended learning programs for students in grades Pre-K through12, is the first partner to join Microsoft’s Education GTM program. The company has become an Associate Microsoft Education Partner; its differentiated literacy solutions are now integrated with Azure, the open, flexible, enterprise-grade cloud computing service from Microsoft and are listed on the Azure Marketplace online store. The Flipped Learning Global Initiative, a worldwide coalition of educators, researchers, technologists, professional development providers and education leaders, reported evidence that a global paradigm shift in flipped learning has begun. Digital Portfolios

GoEnnounce, the new social platform where students build e-portfolios highlighting achievements, has expanded into 20 states nationwide. Since its launch to schools in July 2016, GoEnnounce’s popularity is spreading quickly, in part, because of its social media training curriculum used by educators to implement the course. Read more.

Blackboard Inc. and Chalk.com announced a partnership to deliver a best-in-class digital gradebook and portfolio for K-12 educators. The offering will provide teachers and parents with deeper insights into student performance, helping every learner reach their full potential. The Chalk.com platform will complement Blackboard’s existing offerings designed to enhance learning and will integrate with Blackboard Web Community Manager (WCM), Blackboard’s community engagement platform. ClassLink announced a new single sign-on connection to Edmodo, the free online classroom management platform used by tens of millions of educators worldwide. This relationship will provide millions of educators and students with secure, OneClick access to Edmodo, enabling faster, easier access to one of education’s most widely-used technologies. Edmodo will also incorporate ClassLink OneRoster, giving Edmodo schools the ability to instantly create class rosters for their classes. Read more.

California’s Capistrano Unified School District (CUSD) announced an expansion of its partnership with Discovery Education. In this new phase of collaboration, Discovery Education will support CUSD’s efforts to develop district educators’ capacity to build and sustain a culture of STEM education in its school system through the implementation of a multi-year STEM professional development initiative in 11 district elementary schools.
